The sole candidate for the Central Africa region, the former striker and current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot), aged 44, was elected by acclamation. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had ordered the African Confederation last Friday to accept Eto’o’s candidacy for its executive committee.
CAF had initially reviewed the candidacy in January before the process continued. Eto’o, who is also working on projects with Cameroon’s Ministry of Sports, had appealed to CAS to advance his candidacy.
