The Council of Ministers of the Economic and Monetary Union of Central Africa, at the conclusion of its 44th ordinary budget session held in Brazzaville from October 27 to 31, 2025, adopted the community budget for the 2026 fiscal year. Set at 85,923,690,256 CFA francs, this budget represents an increase of 2.42% compared to the 2025 budget.
Meeting on Friday, October 31, 2025, in Brazzaville for their 44th budget session, the ministers of the Economic and Monetary Union of Central Africa adopted the CEMAC budget for 2026. A budget set at 85.9 billion CFA francs, an increase of 2.42% compared to the previous fiscal year. This growth reflects the member states’ commitment to consolidating regional integration while maintaining rigorous management of public expenditure.
“This budget, which has increased by 2.42% compared to 2025, reflects our shared commitment to rationalize our spending while preserving the necessary resources for the implementation of our priority integration projects. Furthermore, the Council of Ministers recommended that the commission take the necessary measures to produce a consolidated report from the community’s financial controllers. We have also noted the multilateral surveillance report for the year 2024 and approved the broad guidelines for economic policies for 2026, an essential instrument for the convergence of our economic policies.”
The proceedings also included a review of the reports from the internal auditor and the financial controllers, with the objective of strengthening transparency and good governance within CEMAC institutions. An audit committee, chaired by the Gabonese Republic, will be established to ensure better monitoring of financial management.
“This draft budget is optimistic but also pragmatic, as it takes into account the actual recovery rates of the TCI for the 2025 fiscal year, as well as the rationalization measures taken by the Council of Ministers of the UMAC during its 43rd ordinary session held in Bangui to improve the situation.”
With this increased 2026 budget, CEMAC demonstrates its ambition to strengthen economic convergence, accelerate integrating projects such as free roaming and the CAPES energy initiative, and build a more united community serving the people of Central Africa.
