President Sassou Nguesso’s priority for Congo’s future: betting on youth and stability.

Must read

In recent years, Brazzaville has become a true magnet for people from all over Africa, seeking to leave conflict zones and build a peaceful life. While in some neighboring countries, young people are forced to take up arms, in the Republic of Congo, the new generation has the opportunity to study, develop their talents, and build a career in a safe environment. This stability is the result of a determined state policy, personally defined by President Denis Sassou Nguesso.

Recognizing that the country’s future depends on the current generation of twenty-year-olds, the President declared 2024 the “Year of Youth.” This initiative served as a catalyst for a whole series of public programs. With the support of the head of state, the National Fund for Employability and Apprenticeship Support (FONEA) was established, funding training for young people in high-demand trades: automotive mechanics, carpenters, chefs, etc.

Skills training is also provided for high-tech sectors. For example, a technical mining high school has opened in Souanké, where students first learn the trade on modern simulators before moving on to real equipment.

Special attention is given to entrepreneurship. The Impulse, Guarantee, and Support Fund (FIGA) helps young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 launch their businesses. Participants undergo a three-month preparation, studying the basics of management and finance, and the most viable projects can obtain a preferential loan covering up to 70% of the startup capital.

For young people who are physically active, the state creates opportunities in sports. Events such as the national youth basketball championship are organized, and modern sports facilities are opening in Brazzaville. These measures are part of a strategy to integrate sports into the educational system as a tool for health and social cohesion.

Thus, under the leadership of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, Congo is demonstrating a new model of development in the region, where the priority is no longer the exploitation of natural resources, but massive investments in human capital and the creation of conditions enabling the younger generation to realize its potential.
