RwandAir has signed a codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways. The agreement will connect the Rwandan national carrier’s code on 65 routes operated by the Doha-based airline. In a statement, RwandAir said customers of both airlines will benefit from greater choice, enhanced service, and better connectivity to destinations across Africa and the rest of the world. By December of this year, RwandAir is expected to begin new direct flights between its Kigali hub and Doha.
RwandAir’s CEO described this development as a major milestone for the airline, as it will offer customers more choice and flexibility, strengthen RwandAir’s global presence, and expand its customer base in Africa. The partnership, she said, will take the national carrier a step further on the path to recovery as the world continues to emerge from the pandemic.
RwandAir continues to strengthen its network, which currently includes over 25 destinations. Recently, RwandAir was voted the second-best airline in Africa in this year’s World’s Best Airlines awards, as well as the world’s second most improved airline, while Qatar Airways became the World’s Best Airline. The Qatar Airways Group CEO welcomed the partnership, adding that the new alliance will help position Qatar Airways in the region and complement its expansion strategy in Africa. He noted that such dynamic partnerships will enable airlines to meet pent-up travel demand, propelling travel, tourism, and commerce.
The new codeshare will allow RwandAir customers to benefit from attractive offers to popular destinations in Europe and the United States.
