NOC Accelerates Construction of Its New Headquarters

Must read

The 18-month construction project will be carried out by the company Tempero, with oversight and monitoring provided by AIC, the project’s construction manager. This project aligns with the vision of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), which, as part of its ambitious program, has decided to build headquarters for National Olympic Committees (NOCs) that still lack them.

The goal is to enable various NOCs to have modern headquarters to improve their managerial and administrative performance. The request made by the CNOSC found a receptive ear at ANOCA.

This project, with a built-up area of 351.195 m2, will be constructed on a rectangular plot of 2,536.58 m2. The main building, a two-story structure with a terrace and a total area of 1,111.25 m2, will include a 42.60m2 reception hall, a 43m2 meeting room, a staircase providing access to the different levels, offices, and restrooms. A 11.65m2 guardhouse, an area planned for a 1,310.73m2 sports field, 19 parking spaces, and green spaces are also part of the project.

The groundbreaking ceremony marks the starting signal that will move the CNOSC out of the ranks of the homeless. The acquisition of this land was made possible thanks to the personal involvement of the former president of the CNOSC.

For him, the building to be erected on the Joseph Nkeoua site meets the standards of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa.

“The start of this construction stems from funding by ANOCA and contributions from members of the Congolese Olympic and sports movement. We hope to receive other contributions to continue the work,” stated the First Vice-President of the CNOSC.

The acting mayor of Makélékélé, representing the unavailable mayor of Bacongo, welcomed the project, which he said marks the beginning of a new era for the Congolese sports movement. “This future headquarters will provide optimal conditions for the development of our athletes, whether they are high-level competitors or simply amateurs, and will become a central hub for sports administration and development, thereby contributing to the prestige of our urban area,” said the acting mayor.

The Joseph Nkeoua site hosting this project is a place steeped in history, symbolizing both political activism, anti-colonialism, and the emergence of modern Congolese culture.
