Dolisie-Kibangou-Nyanga-Ndéndé road modernization connects southern Congo.

Must read

In southern Congo, a major rehabilitation project is transforming the daily lives of thousands of residents. The Dolisie-Kibangou-Nyanga-Ndéndé road, a strategic artery connecting several departments, is undergoing extensive improvement works that will permanently change the lives of local populations.

Long neglected, this road had become nearly impassable in places, isolating entire communities during the rainy season. Merchants watched their goods rot on the spot, unable to transport them to markets. The sick took hours, sometimes days, to reach a health center.

Today, construction equipment is at work. The road surface is being redone, bridges are being rehabilitated, and the most critical areas are being secured. For the residents, every kilometer of renovated road means easier access to schools, hospitals, and markets.

“This road is our lifeline,” says a merchant from Kibangou. “Before, it took two days to reach Dolisie. Now, we hope to do it in a few hours. My goods will arrive fresh at the markets, my profits will double.”

Beyond the commercial aspect, the entire social and economic fabric of the region is revitalized. Isolated villages reconnect with the rest of the country. Children can get to school more easily. Pregnant women can reach maternity wards without risking their lives on broken tracks.

This project is part of a broader strategy for developing road infrastructure, which has already seen the completion of the N1 national highway linking Brazzaville to Pointe-Noire, and the Sembé-Souanké-Ntam road, opening a corridor to Cameroon.

The improvement of the Dolisie-Kibangou-Nyanga-Ndéndé road illustrates President Denis Sassou-Nguesso’s commitment to opening up every region of the country. Under his leadership, Congo is patiently weaving its road network, connecting territories and uniting populations in a shared drive for development.
