Must read

The Confederation of Sahel States (AES) has reacted firmly to the military operation conducted by the United States in Venezuela, which resulted in the capture of former President Nicolás Maduro and his wife in Caracas. The AES denounces a serious violation of Venezuelan sovereignty and calls for respect for international law.

In an official statement, the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) has strongly condemned the military operation conducted by the United States in Venezuela. The Sahel organization denounces a serious breach of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Bolivarian Republic and describes this act as unacceptable interference in the affairs of a sovereign state. The AES recalls that any unilateral armed intervention constitutes a clear violation of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

“The AES Confederation, committed to the defense of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence, strongly condemns this serious act, which is contrary to international law, particularly the fundamental principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.”

While Washington refers to it as a “law enforcement mission,” the AES considers this intervention an act of aggression against Venezuela’s sovereignty. An operation described as a violation of a fundamental principle of international law by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. It is worth noting that this is the most significant operation conducted by the United States in Latin America since 1990. According to observers, it could set a dangerous precedent for the international order.

While expressing solidarity with the Venezuelan people, the AES reaffirms its commitment to multilateralism, the sovereign equality of states, and peace, and emphasizes the importance of respecting international law to prevent unilateral interference and ensure global stability.
