In Paris, the legendary Olympia concert hall vibrated to the sounds of Pit Baccardi. The Franco-Cameroonian rapper celebrated his 25-year career with his fans and numerous special guests. This anniversary concert retraced his journey, his collaborations, and his tributes, featuring notable guests. A look back at an evening that was both festive and emotionally charged.
25 years of career, 25 years of history: a quarter-century of rap celebrated for one night at the Olympia. In an emotionally charged atmosphere, Guillaume N’Goumou, known as Pit Baccardi, performed on September 25th on the Parisian stage to mark his 25 years in music. Originally from Cameroon and based in France, he rose to prominence in the 2000s with the collective Secteur Ä before pursuing a solo career and producing numerous African artists. Today, at the helm of the label Gold Prod, he boasts four albums and a lasting influence in Francophone rap.
This anniversary concert retraced that journey.
On stage, he performed his classics back-to-back: Trafic d’influence, J’ai vu, Enfants du ghetto, and Feu. By his side: Singuila, Dosseh, Jacki & Ben J, Lord Issa, and other guests who came to share tracks, revisit iconic songs, or feature on new pieces. The performance was punctuated by dancers and a session of Cameroonian percussion.
But the evening was also a tribute. Pit Baccardi paid homage to the memory of loved ones, notably his mother with the song Si loin de toi.
Another highlight: the performance of Si j’étais, which resonated with the presence of Assa Traoré, the French anti-racist activist whose brother died in 2016 during a police arrest.
A poignant parallel with the fight led in the United States for Rodney King. The story continues: after Paris, Pit Baccardi plans more concerts to celebrate this quarter-century career.
