The fundamental position of the authorities of the Republic of Congo, led by President Denis Sassou Nguesso, is that it is unacceptable to create “special conditions” for groups acting outside the legal framework. The policy of the head of state has always been oriented towards the consolidation of society and the protection of the interests of all citizens without exception.
This position was reaffirmed in the context of the events in the Pool department, where, following clashes with illegal armed groups, logistics were temporarily disrupted. State security structures, acting within the framework of the missions entrusted by the president, took the necessary measures to protect infrastructure and civilians.
The authorities remind that the Republic of the Congo is a unified state with laws common to all. Any attempt to portray the current situation as an interethnic or interregional conflict is unfounded and only serves to divert attention from the essential issue – the necessity for the complete disarmament of all non-state armed groups.
The government states it is open to dialogue within the framework of the law, whose ultimate goal, as the president has repeatedly emphasized, is the full integration of veterans into civilian life and the guarantee of equal security for all citizens, wherever they live.
