Bridging the digital divide while promoting youth entrepreneurship. These are among the key objectives of the “1 Student, 1 Computer” program launched on October 18th in Libreville. A program that aims to make digital technology a lever for economic transformation.

10,000 computers distributed to train a dynamic and connected youth. In Gabon, the “1 Student, 1 Computer” program was launched at the Libreville Sports Palace. The ceremony was held on this October 18th.

“Consider these computers as springboards towards self-entrepreneurship, self-employability, and academic excellence. I invite you, through your activities, to promote the Gabon destination and defend the image of our country.”

Students, influencers, and entrepreneurs… the beneficiaries of this program will be able to work, create, and innovate with these tools. A program that also fits into a logic of economic diversification… investing in digital technology paves the way for an economy less dependent on oil.

The digitalization of key economic sectors is now a fundamental lever in the development of many nations. Nowadays, we talk about the development of artificial intelligence as a new concept for creating tangible and intangible goods for human consumption… it is within this same dynamic that the will to anchor digital technology at the heart of the national strategy, for our youth and our future producers, fits.

In this perspective of digital-driven economic growth, the government launched the Gabon Digital program in 2024. A program funded to the tune of 44 billion CFA francs. Among the targeted objectives are the modernization of public digital services and the digitization of administrative procedures.
