Southern African countries “have terminated the mandate” of their military mission in the eastern DRC and “ordered the start of a gradual troop withdrawal,” the regional cooperation organization (SADC) announced on Thursday in a statement released after an extraordinary summit.
“The summit has terminated the mandate of SAMIDRC and has ordered the start of a gradual withdrawal of SAMIDRC troops from the DRC,” the organization stated following this summit held via videoconference between Heads of State.
