French number one, Loïs Boisson, announced on Monday, October 20th, that she is ending her season due to injury. She was scheduled to compete at the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo which began on Monday. The world No. 37 sustained a left thigh injury during the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing at the end of September and had not played since.
“After consulting with my team and medical staff, we have decided to end my 2025 season,” she wrote on her Instagram account. “I will take some time to rest and then quickly return to training to come back stronger in 2026,” added the Dijon native.
The 22-year-old French player, a clay-court specialist, had reached a career-high ranking before winning her first WTA tour title in Hamburg in July.
Her hard-court season was subsequently marred by injuries, even though she defeated a seeded player, Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova, in the second round in Beijing.
