Morocco, host of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, kicked off the tournament with a match against Brazil (0-3). The Atlas Lionesses are now preparing for their next game on October 21st against Italy.

The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup began this Friday, October 17, 2025, in Rabat. In the opening match, Morocco, the host nation, faced Brazil (0-3).

We gave our all on the pitch, we have no regrets. Sure, there were mistakes, but we will correct them quickly. That’s also the point of losing: to get back up, review what we did, and we will have the chance to make up for it against Italy and Costa Rica.

A familiar face in major tournaments, Brazil, playing against a crowd firmly behind Morocco, quickly took control with a goal from Evelin Bonifacio in the 12th minute. This goal, which energized the Brazilians, put pressure on the Moroccan side, who struggled to impose their style of play. The Brazilian team capitalized on this lack of effectiveness to double their lead in the 36th minute thanks to Giovanna Waksman. Dominant throughout, the Brazilian squad scored a third goal in the 75th minute to seal the match.

“The players gave their best today and promised to do everything to get better results in the upcoming matches.”

In its second-ever participation in the U17 Women’s World Cup, Morocco is now preparing for its next encounter on October 21st against Italy, who defeated Costa Rica (3-0) on October 18th.
