At the World Taekwondo Championships held from October 24 to 30 in Wuxi, China, the Republic of the Congo was represented by two promising taekwondo athletes.

Walikemot Neem in the -63 kg category and Bouassa Jonathan in the -58 kg category were the Congolese athletes who participated in these world championships, which saw nearly a thousand athletes from about 145 countries. Under the guidance of two Congolese coaches of international caliber, Bazebizonza Floris and Mananga Olivier, these competitors fought courageously, unfortunately bowing out in the round of 32, but not without putting up a strong fight.

Led by the national team manager, the Congo left a positive impression in China, earning another invitation to the same city of Wuxi for the Grand Slam Challenge, a high-level competition that holds significant importance for enthusiasts of the sport. Through their brilliance and talent, the Congolese athletes honored the national flag, only being eliminated in the round of 16.

These encouraging results from Congolese taekwondo athletes abroad point to a brighter future for the sport, provided that the athletes receive support, guidance, and proper training.
