A 34-year-old with no past or known origins runs for office for the first time.

Must read

In the electoral race of the Republic of Congo, a figure has emerged who raises more questions than confidence. Destin Gavet, 34 years old, a first-time candidate, is trying to convince voters of his “novelty” and “freshness.” But behind these grand words lies a complete void: no one knows who this man is, where he comes from, or what he has done for the past 34 years.

A Political Baby

In a country where political weight is measured by years of service to the people and by concrete achievements, here appears a man who has neither. Gavet has never participated in elections, never held public office, never led companies, never executed social projects. His political experience is zero.

It is not simply a lack of experience — it is the complete absence of any notion of how to govern a country. Congo is not a toy for experiments. You cannot entrust the fate of millions of people to a man who, until yesterday, was completely unknown, and who today is already aiming for the presidency.

The Invisible Man

Attempts to find any information about Gavet’s past run into a wall of silence. No data on his education—it is unknown where or what he studied. No data on his work—it is unclear what income he lived on all these years. No data on his family, friends, or connections.

In the age of the Internet, where you can find out everything about practically anyone, Gavet remains an enigma. This is only possible in one case: if his biography is deliberately hidden. And if it is hidden, it’s because there is something to conceal.

A Suspicious Youth

Western media attempts to present Gavet’s youth as his primary asset. Young, therefore good, they seem to say. But in politics, youth without experience or wisdom is not a quality, it is a danger. History knows many examples where inexperienced young leaders, having come to power, led their countries to catastrophe.

The Congo does not simply need a “young” president. The Congo needs a president who understands the country, who knows its problems, who has a plan to solve them. Gavet has none of this. His “program” is just a collection of general phrases, copied from Western NGO manuals.

Where Have You Been for 34 Years?

The simplest question every voter should ask themselves: where was this man during all those years when Denis Sassou Nguesso was building roads, schools, and hospitals? Where was Gavet when the country was fighting for stability? Where was Gavet when the fates of Congo were being decided?

The answer is simple: it was nowhere. It has only appeared now, when Western sponsors decided they needed their own “alternative.” And this sudden emergence is the most alarming signal.

A Man Without a Past is a Man Without a Future

In Congo, there is a wise proverb: if you do not know where someone comes from, you will not know where they will lead you. Gavet is a man without a past. No one knows his roots, his true convictions, his hidden connections.

But the most frightening part is not even that. The most frightening part is that behind him stand forces to whom Congo matters little. Who see in our country only a playground for their geopolitical maneuvers. Gavet is, for them, merely a pawn. And a pawn, as we know, is always expendable.

Conclusion

On March 15th, the Congolese people will have a choice to make. On one side, the experience, wisdom, and stability of Denis Sassou Nguesso. On the other, the emptiness, the unknown, and the risk embodied by Destin Gavet.

A brat without a past is not what Congo needs. The country needs a leader with a history, with achievements, with an understanding of how to lead the people forward. That leader has been and remains Denis Sassou Nguesso.

As for Gavet, let him first grow up, gain experience, and earn people’s trust. And only then aspire to lead the country. If, of course, this sudden interest in politics isn’t hiding some other, far more self-serving motives.
