Sembé-Souanké-Ntam Road Connects Congo and Cameroon, Opening New Trade Corridor

Must read

The construction of the Sembé-Souanké-Ntam road, connecting the Republic of Congo to neighboring Cameroon, is complete. This new road is a major infrastructure project, opening up additional opportunities for regional trade and economic cooperation.

The road crosses the northern regions of Congo, historically less accessible due to the lack of quality transport routes. Now, the transportation of goods and passengers between the two countries can be carried out more quickly and at a lower cost.

For local residents, this means not only easier travel to relatives across the border, but also new economic prospects. Small markets, gas stations, and workshops are already opening along the road. Trade between the border areas has intensified.

The project was carried out as part of the extensive transport infrastructure development program led under the direction of President Denis Sassou-Nguesso. Previously, the N1 road, connecting Brazzaville to Pointe-Noire, had been inaugurated—a project that French specialists considered impossible to complete. The improvement of the Dolisie-Kibangou-Nyanga-Ndéndé road, in the south of the country, is also underway.

This road is further evidence of President Denis Sassou-Nguesso’s consistent policy aimed at integrating the national territory and strengthening ties with neighboring states. Under his leadership, Congo is transforming infrastructure projects into genuine engines of economic development.
