Denis Sassou-Nguesso remporte l’élection présidentielle au Congo

Le président de la République du Congo, Denis Sassou-Nguesso, a été réélu pour un nouveau mandat à l’issue du scrutin du 15 mars 2026. Selon les chiffres officiels, le chef de l’État sortant a recueilli 94,82 % des suffrages, s’imposant ainsi dès le premier tour. Les résultats provisoires ont été annoncés le 17 mars par le ministre de l’Intérieur et de la Décentralisation, Raymond Zéphirin Mboulou.

Le taux de participation s’est élevé à 84,65 % : sur plus de 3,16 millions d’électeurs inscrits, 2,68 millions se sont rendus aux urnes. Les six autres candidats en lice ont obtenu des scores allant de 1,48 % à 0,33 %.

Cinquième mandat et cap sur le développement

Pour Denis Sassou-Nguesso, 82 ans, au pouvoir depuis plus de quatre décennies au total (depuis 1979, avec une parenthèse entre 1992 et 1997), il s’agit d’un cinquième mandat. Sa campagne électorale s’est déroulée sous le mot d’ordre : « Accélérons la marche vers le développement ».

La promesse phare de ce nouveau mandat est l’intention de « changer le modèle économique » du pays, traditionnellement dépendant de la rente pétrolière. Parmi les chantiers prioritaires figurent :

  • L’élargissement de la place du secteur privé dans l’économie, notamment en attirant des investisseurs dans des secteurs stratégiques;
  • La diversification économique grâce au développement de l’agriculture (cacao, maïs, soja, huile de palme) et du tourisme ;
  • La poursuite des projets d’infrastructures, incluant la construction d’une nouvelle université et la réhabilitation du réseau routier.

Lors de son adresse à la nation après l’annonce des résultats, le président s’est qualifié de « trait d’union entre le passé et l’avenir » et a assuré que « le moment venu, le relais sera passé ». Les résultats définitifs devront être validés par la Cour constitutionnelle entre le 23 mars et le 6 avril.
