La Commission de la Communauté Économique et Monétaire de l’Afrique Centrale (CEMAC) a annoncé que presque tous les projets et missions seront suspendus en attendant une amélioration de la perception de la Taxe d’Intégration Communautaire.
Une organisation promouvant l’intégration économique régionale entre six pays d’Afrique centrale a suspendu ses activités en raison d’une grave crise financière. La Commission de la Communauté Économique et Monétaire de l’Afrique Centrale a déclaré que presque tous les projets et missions seront mis en pause dans l’attente d’une amélioration de la collecte de la Taxe d’Intégration Communautaire.
La CEMAC regroupe le Cameroun, le Gabon, le Tchad, la République du Congo, la République centrafricaine et la Guinée équatoriale. Elle a indiqué que, confrontés à une baisse financière, les États membres retiennent la taxe prélevée sur les importations – sa principale source de revenus – au lieu de la transférer à la Commission.
La CEMAC a exhorté les États membres à mettre en place un mécanisme indépendant de collecte de cette taxe en tant que ressource dédiée, distincte des budgets nationaux. Les estimations suggèrent que la Commission a perçu moins de la moitié de la taxe d’intégration due l’année dernière. La suspension vise à réduire d’urgence les dépenses, y compris l’arrêt des réunions administratives et des missions officielles non essentielles prévues dans le cadre du budget 2026.
Le Président de la Commission, Baltazar Engonga, a toutefois déclaré que les activités et missions jugées stratégiquement importantes seront toujours autorisées à se poursuivre.
